How Much Does A Breast Job Cost On Average?

Image result for breast surgeryBreast augmentation surgery which is otherwise known as a boob job or breast job is the number one plastic surgery procedure for another year per the 2014 plastic surgery statistics report and has been since 2006 and was in the top 3 in the years prior to that. It is popular for various reasons and will continue to be and one of the most important factors to consider before having this procedure performed is the cost. When asking the question "how much does a breast job cost?" you need to take into consideration various factors before and
after the surgical procedure that will have an impact on the final cost.
While cost is an important factor to consider, it is not the most important since you do not want to be charged a very low amount but have to suffer through a botched boob job procedure because you used a bad surgeon. You also don't want to pay an exorbitant amount either. Finding a middle ground is key.
Average cost of breast enlargement
The following is the breakdown of how much you will need to spend on average if you are considering a boob job.
The Surgery Cost
The average cost of breast augmentation in 2014 was about $3,700 which is more or less the same as in previous years. This represents the average plastic surgeon's fee. There will also be additional fees added to this such as hospital fees, the fees for the anesthesiologist, etc, so you should plan on spending between $5,000 and $10,000.
This average cost is also dependent upon whether you get silicone or saline implants and also the manufacturer used by the plastic surgeon or operating facility to supply the implants. Implants can only be ordered by the plastic surgeon or operating facility which usually includes the cost for shipping, ordering and stocking in the final cost that you will be charged for the implants but you should try to negotiate with your surgeon to bring this cost down which may or may not occur.
Silicone gel implants are usually the most popular each year as they look more natural and in 2014 they accounted for about 77 percent of breast implant procedures compared to the remaining 28 percent that used saline implants. This increased slightly from the previous year's numbers of 72 percent and 28 percent respectively.
Saline implants are actually a little bit cheaper than silicone implants so this is something that you may want to consider although when choosing implants you should be more concerned about the look and feel that you are going for with your breasts a lot more so that the price.
The average cost of breast enlargement also does not include the following costs which vary from one place to another and from one plastic surgeon to another and which you should always expect will set you back an additional few thousand dollars.
  1. The cost for the operating room/facility to be used for the procedure.
  2. The anesthesiologist's fees as the breast job procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia.
  3. Prescription medications usually for the pain during the recovery period.
  4. Post-surgery garments.
  5. Other miscellaneous costs such as medical tests, etc.
In general, the average minimum you will be required to spend looks like this;
                               Silicone            Saline
Surgeon's fee            $3,700              $3,500
Operating Room Fee $1,000             $1,000
Anesthesiologist's fee $800               $800
Implant fee                $2,100             $1,200
Total                           $7,600             $6,500

If the implants cost significantly more than the average shown above, you should definitely question the price and negotiate if possible.
When discussing the boob job costs with the plastic surgeons you are considering, you need to ensure that all possible costs are accounted for so that you have no surprises after the procedure is performed.
If you are given a price estimate for the boob job procedure, you need to make sure that you ask whether all costs are included in the estimate or whether it is just for the surgical procedure only.
Post Surgery Garments Needed
In addition to the above costs, you may also need to spend money on post surgery garments such as the following (unless they are added onto the final cost that you are given by the surgeon but in some cases you may want to purchase your own garments).
1. A post plastic surgery bra is very important immediately after the breast augmentation surgery which helps with healing and to help create a more rounded shape as well as to handle any other changes in the breasts resulting from the increase in size.
2. Another way that you can take care of the breasts after the procedure to avoid shapeless breasts is with a post surgery bra or sports bra that is made with compression fabric to help with recovery as well as help reduce the swelling you shall experience after the breast job procedure. These usually come with a front zipper to make it easier to take off and put on the bra as well as to prevent too much arm movement which can be painful.
In order to answer the question "how much does a breast job cost?" you need to consider all possible costs for this procedure and not just for the surgery itself. The above should help you decide whether you can afford this procedure or not. You may also want to consider having this procedure performed in another country besides the U.S. which may end up being cheaper but you need to make sure that you do your research.
